Why this interest for the 'Wild West'?
From where I got this fascination for the ‘Wild West’ and a western-lifestyle I couldn’t say. It was there one day and it never went. Some visits to the United States made it possible to get a feeling of the old times. For that reason I worked on a real working cattle ranch for a week. Every morning we started at 6, had our breakfast, saddled the horses and rode till about 7 in the evening to drive hundreds of  cows together. We cut, branded and injected the calves. All day long under the burning Arizona sun.

Then you get respect for all the men and women who used to do this work all year long and on many ranches, like the one where I  stayed, they still work this way, just like the old days because there are no other ways to do the job.

I visited many historic places, like Tombstone (OK corral, Bird cage theatre), Forth Worth (where I stayed in an old brothel, meant for all the not so tired cowboys at the end of the trail), San Antonio(The Alamo), Fredericksburg  (old German settlement), Dragoon mountains in Arizona (Chiricahua Apache Chief Cochise's stronghold), Bandera (Cowboy capitol of the world) and many more.
But back home in Germany and Holland, I still have my paint horse Pumkin Vegas, the music, my collection of books, western themed magazines and of course Internet to appease myself.

In the time coming, I will try to mention and describe on this site many sites who will be of interest for everyone who loves the (country and/or) western lifestyle. Just like the native people of America in former times passed on their knowledge and wisdom by telling tales, Internet provides a way to pass on knowledge and wisdom. New times, new ways, but the need to learn about and from the past remains.

"....all things share the same breath....the beast, the tree, the man....the air shares it's spirit with
all the life it supports."
